The Melissa & Doug Wooden Lacing Beads comes with 27 brightly colored beads in various shapes and sizes, along with two lacing strings. We used these in a few phases – initially to encourage grasp of the toy using the cylinder shaped beads in the affected hand to grasp while feeding the thread through. As function increased we moved to reaching and grabbing them off the table with the affected hand and threading. Once the thread was complete, we’d place it on the table and get her to hold the thread in the non affected hand, and use her affected hand to push the beads off the threat.
Will need some hand function to get them into the affected hand independently, but there are some shapes that will help the grasp if that’s an issue too.
